It´s almost the end of day twenty something and I've decided to sit down for my last few hours here. Today is a national holiday which means that the majority of businesses are closed (which scratches my plan of having a picnic dinner on the train tonight), and answers my question as to why I've been seeing piles of kids wandering around the city dressed as wise men. It´s the feast of the epiphany which lets people here in town crowd museums and spend their afternoons in cafes. I've partaken in both activities already today and I´d say that I was actively participating, but I didn't learn that it was a national holiday until a few hours ago.

After dumping my bag at the train station I made my way into town and had coffee at a tiny little hole in the wall which I seem to remember from the film Before Sunrise (unless my imagination is playing with me), I made my way to the Albertina where I was able to take in more of Franz Gertsch's work - this time monumentally-scaled woodblock prints about 6 feet wide and 10 feet tall on average, Andy Warhol´s portraits of pop stars, more Picasso (which is why I had to wait twenty minutes in line to get my ticket), and the museum´s collection of incredible drawings. I got to take in work by Albrecht Durer, Egon Schiele, and Michaelangelo, to name off a few. It made me want to sit down and draw... thankfully I have an eleven hour train ride tonight to give me the space to do so.

Vienna has been amazing, and I think that it´s officially on my list of cities that I could picture myself potentially living in in the future. I've found my home neighbourhood with a good coffee shop (the coffee here is amazing), nice people, great record stores, and the types of places that I feel at home around. I've learned a lot, seen my heroes, met some cool people, and even went to my first opera (last night I went to a performance of La Nozze di Figaro at the State Opera for 2 euro). I´d say that it was a dignified affair, but I didn't have time to get back to the hostel to get changed into my "nice" clothes, so I was wandering around in jeans surrounded by people in tuxedos.

So for my last trick, I´m going to make my way to find another coffee shop and get myself more fired up on coffee, and hope to find a cheap place to eat before I have to make my pilgrimage tonight. As they say here in Vienna (and I´m being serious here)... ciao!
